More than 400 CWA members attended the 2008 Legislative Conference which focused on the union's four major goals: passage of the Employee Free Choice Act, affordable health care, jobs and fair trade policies, and retirement security. Delegates heard from presidential candidates Sen. Hillary Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama, visited lawmakers' offices on Capitol Hill and discussed top legislative priorities.
President Larry Cohen urged CWA Locals to commit to getting 10 percent of their members to sign pledge cards supporting the passage of the Employee Free Choice Act. For labor as a whole, the goal is collecting the signatures and photos of a million card signers.
